Frequently asked questions.

If you are in a territory that is switching from CenturyLink to Brightspeed, there may be short service interruptions.

If you are a new Brightspeed customer switching from another provider, service interruptions depend upon the cancellation of your old service and the start of your new service.

When switching to Brightspeed service from another provider, you will need Brightspeed-compatible equipment. You can lease or purchase modems and gateways when you sign up, and the equipment will be provided at your installation.

There is no guarantee you can keep your home phone number when switching your service to Brightspeed. However, many providers will allow you to port your number to your new provider. To improve the chances you’ll keep your phone number, don’t cancel your current phone service before Brightspeed installation. Contact your provider and let them know you’d like to port your number to Brightspeed.

No, Brightspeed is not the same as CenturyLink. Brightspeed is a new internet service provider that took over CenturyLink’s copper and fiber internet operations in several areas. While CenturyLink still operates in certain regions, Brightspeed is focused on expanding and improving internet services, especially fiber, in the areas it now serves. If you were a CenturyLink customer in one of those regions, your service may have transitioned to Brightspeed.
